ED 554 - Take Home Final

Write a paper that addresses the following aspects:

  1. What are you teaching now or what do you plan on teaching? (e.g. you plan on teaching science in a middle school in the inner city)
  2. What is your view of the usefulness of the various tools we have addressed in this course in doing #1 (for a list of tools, see the list of student and instructor presentations at the top of the schedule page) - you may choose to group these into categories such as very useful, somewhat useful, not so useful, and explain why you think so. You need not address every tool and in part of this section, you may do tables or other things that depart from essay format in order to be concise.
  3. #2 is written by taking your own competencies, inclinations, etc out of the equation - I then want you to describe how these affect the usefulness of these tools for you

#2 will constitute the bulk of the paper, with #1 being quite short and #3 longer than #1 but much shorter than #2. The point of the paper is for you to think about the applicability of these various tools in a particular setting (#1) and given your particular inclination, abilities, etc. (#3). What you choose for #1 is entirely up to you. You may discuss the topic with others but others should not assist you in the writing or review your written work. Please email me the paper as an attachment by anytime Wednesday, December 13. I will ackowledge receipt of the paper by email. Do not assume that I have a particular point of view with regard to #2 as it applies to #1 or that by agreeing with me, you will be graded more favorably.

The length of the paper is up to you but I think something in the 4-7 page range would be appropriate.
