HAED was established in August 2002 in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. It is a humanitarian Organization designed to address social and economical issues facing Ethiopians. As an organization, HAED is dedicated to supporting the wellness of the Ethiopian Community by assisting those affected by tragedy and helping empower individuals and families to become greated contributors to society. Furthermore, in collaboration with other organizations that share similar missions, HAED plans to make a larger impact in tackling the social and economical issues that stand in the way of crucial development for Ethiopians.
MISSION STATEMENT
It has been a norm or the order of the day to witness numerous tragic circumstances that greatly affect the Ethiopian community in the Diaspora. Individually or in groups, we have reacted to involve ourselves into the scheme of solution finding. Our initiatives by and large are supported by donation and often short lived. Whenever there is a social or economic problem, we quickly converge and donate money and get back to our private world, as if the social orbit we belong to does not matter or does not need us any longer. This is perhaps why we are always dealing with the same social and economic issues: and perhaps it is the same reason that lends itself to our collective failure to come up not only with a sustainable social integrity, but also a preventive measurement to tackle the problems. It is with this particular understanding that HAED was created and is set out to operate.
